Rav Yosef Shalom Eliashiv Zt”l was born in Lithuania in 1910. He became one of the greatest spiritual figures of our generation as well as the contemporary leading authority on Jewish law. He passed away in his hometown of Jerusalem, Israel in 2012 at the age of 102 leaving behind him a huge void that is still felt today.
His extreme greatness alone is what motivated me to paint his portrait in order to have it hanging in my house in constant view of my family as encouragement and source of inspiration. I finished this painting on the exact day of the Rav’s 100th birthday.
