This painting is inspired by a section in Psalms chapter 116, the phrase loosely translates as “how can I repay G-d for all His goodness to me. I raise the cup of salvation and call out the name of G-d.” Commentary explains that one of the many ways to thank G-d is over a blessing on a cup of wine. I put the beautiful goblet next to a rose which many times has been used to symbolise the Jewish nation. I chose these specific words which I grew up often listening to in the form of a song in order to exhibit my gratitude through art. There’s always so much we have to be thankful for what better way to express it!
